Church tower – history
Every pilgrim heading for Jasna Góra recognises the characteristic silhouette of the monastery church tower marking the end of the journey.
If pilgrims, undeterred by its height, decide to ascend the tower, they can admire not only the monastery and the panorama of the city, but also the vast view of the northern part of the Kraków-Czestochowa Upland and its limestone hills and rocks. Because of this visual amenity, the monastery church tower was used as an observation point, among others, during World War II.
