Altar at the top
In 1903, the whole eastern facade of the chapel of the Miraculous Image was designed and reconstructed by the architect Stefan Szyller in the form of a great altar retable for celebrations of festive services attended by many pilgrims. In the centre, there is a modern copy of the Miraculous Image in the technique of mosaic, made in Ravenna in 1992. On the sides, in niches, there are sculptures of Saints Paul the First Hermit and Anthony the Abbott. Above, on the edges of the cornice, there are figures of angels playing instruments. The whole is topped with a gilded figure of Virgin Mary with Child.
